Defence Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network Established

The Defence Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Department is responsible for the security and resilience of the Velocity Interoperability Network and for the protection of its members and infrastructure.

With its establishment complete, the Department today launches its official website at defence.gov.vin. The site will carry press releases, official statements, and guidance for members and partners of the Network.

At establishment the Department comprises two offices. The Office of the Spokesperson issues the Department's statements, answers enquiries and receives correspondence at the Department's contact address. The Policy and Standards Division maintains the Interim Network Defence Framework, confirms the tier of registered systems, assesses incident reports and prepares security advisories. The Department's first instruments, all of which take effect today, are described in the guidance on this site.
