Members Invited to Register Shared Network Infrastructure

The Defence Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network today opened the registration of shared Network infrastructure. Under the Interim Network Defence Framework, each member registers every system it operates on behalf of the Network and every system on which a shared Network service depends, proposing a tier for each. The Department confirms the tier within fifteen working days.

Registration is phased so that the systems the Network depends on most are known first. Tier 1 systems are to be registered by 31 October 2026, Tier 2 systems by 30 November 2026 and Tier 3 systems by 31 December 2026. Systems brought into service after those dates are registered before they enter service.

The register compiled from members' records will not be published. It will be used to identify the members that must be warned when an incident is reported, to define the systems within each readiness exercise and to determine the systems each member's readiness return must cover. The Department has also established a security advisory service and issued its first three advisories to members.
